The Advantages of Dental Implants
When a person is missing a few or all of their teeth, their quality of life suffers, as their health, appearance, and their confidence level are all compromised. Dental Implants replace the roots of teeth, and so can support replacement teeth, protect your oral health, and make your smile whole again.
Dental Implants improve your oral health and quality of life.
Dental Implants are built to last a lifetime. With proper care, they can last for over 40 years. In contrast, traditional dentures, supported only by the gums, and crowns and bridges supported by your natural teeth, will need to be replaced periodically.
Tooth loss leads to shrinkage of the jawbone. This causes oral health issues and also gives the appearance of an aged, sunken face. At present, the only way to stop bone loss and shrinkage after tooth loss is to place dental implants.
Traditional dentures slide and move around, they move when the wearer talks or yawns. They need to be held in place with messy adhesives that have to be reapplied repeatedly. Implants not only give patients a smile they can be proud of, but they allow patients to chew anything they like. They can chew steak and bite into an apple while talking.
Dental implants are changing the way people live! With them, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to eat, speak, laugh, and enjoy life.
What Are Dental Implants
Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Dental implants are tiny titanium posts that are placed into the jaw bone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

Evaluation for Dental Implants
If like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a dental/radiographic examination and health history evaluation. During these consultation visits, your specific needs and considerations will be addressed by Dr. Paghdiwala. Your questions and concerns are important to us and our team will work with you very closely to help make your procedure a success.
- Bone Health: Your jaw must have enough healthy bone to support the dental implants. Following the extraction of teeth, there is bone shrinkage, so if you have waited too long, you may need a bone graft before we can place implants in your jaw.
- Health Issues: Habits such as smoking and health conditions such as diabetes can affect the healing after implant surgery. Therefore such conditions would have to control before implants can be placed in your jaw.
- Periodontal (Gum) Disease: If you have gum disease, it would have to be treated before implants can be placed in your jaw. Regular maintenance and good oral hygiene will also improve implant success.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?
The cost of dental implants depends upon a number of factors, mainly how many implants will be needed, how is the bone condition, will bone grafting be needed, are extractions to be done, do you need a temporary healing denture or bridge or partial, and what kind of final restoration will you be getting.
Therefore the cost of dental implants varies widely from case to case. At your consultation, we will review your case and give you an estimate of the cost.

A 5-Star Review For Dental Implants
“I have had extensive dental work and my bite was never aligned correctly until I decided to have implants to replace teeth that required removal. I am very pleased with the work and my implants have been correctly aligned with my natural bite. I highly recommend Pearl Dental, their first priority is to retain your natural teeth as much as possible.

Dental Implant Saved Nearby Teeth
“I am glad I went to Pearl Dental Arts for a second opinion. Dr. P. disagreed with placing a bridge in my mouth because I am so young ( I was 28 at the time). He explained that all dental work will last 10-15 years (like my crown did) and that he wanted to take a much less invasive approach to my mouth. He started by pulling the tooth and implanting bone material that would be assimilated by my jaw in order to build up the damaged tooth site. He then implanted a new tooth, and I love it. iI am so glad that he didn’t have to damage any of my other teeth!”

Surgical Advances in Dental Implants
Using the most recent advances in dental implant technology, Dr. Paghdiwala is able to place single-stage implants. These implants do not require a second procedure to uncover them but do require a minimum of six weeks of healing time before artificial teeth are placed. There are even situations where the implant can be placed at the same time as the tooth extraction – further minimizing your number of surgical procedures.
Dental implant placement may sometimes be done in stages. Dr. Paghdiwala first performs the actual implant surgery, initial tooth extractions, and bone grafting if necessary. After sufficient healing, he then fits and makes the permanent prosthesis. He will also make any temporary prosthesis needed during the implant process.

Dental Implant Procedure
Dental implants are metal anchors, which act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically placed into the jaw bone. Small posts are then attached to the implant, which protrudes through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two phases. In the first phase, dental implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to four months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums, gradually bonding with the jaw bone. You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time. At the same time, Dr. Paghdiwala starts designing the final bridgework or denture, which will ultimately improve both function and aesthetics.
After the dental implant has bonded to the jaw bone, in three to four months, the second phase begins. Dr. Paghdiwala will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar. He can then start making your new teeth. An impression will be taken. Then posts or attachments will be connected to the implants. The replacement teeth are then made over the posts or attachments. The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
Types of Dental Implant-Supported Restorations
Dental implants can be placed to replace one tooth, a few teeth, or all the teeth.
If one tooth is missing, a single crown will be placed on the implant and the missing tooth will be replaced.
If a few teeth are missing, a fixed bridge can be made over the implants, and the missing teeth will be replaced by the implant-supported fixed bridge.
If all the natural teeth in a person’s jaw have failed, the only option is to extract them all. After all, the teeth are taken out and implants are placed, there are different options for the kind of new teeth that will be placed on the implants. The options fall into two main categories, removable teeth or fixed teeth. You can get:
1) Removable teeth will be a Snap-On Denture
2) Fixed teeth can either be (i) Hybrid Bridge or (ii) Fixed Bridge
Let us examine these options.
Removable Snap-On Denture
Implant-supported Snap-On Dentures are dentures that are held in place securely on the gums by anchors that connect the denture to the implants. You can snap them onto the implant anchors when you want to and snap them off whenever you want, especially at the end of the day.
Implant-supported dentures not only allow you to eat any foods, speak clearly and smile proudly, but they also support your overall health.
Advantages of implant-supported dentures over traditional dentures:
No Adhesive Needed
Traditional dentures are held in place by suction and usually by lots of dental adhesives. Snap-on dentures are connected by anchors on the implants and require no adhesive.
No Noises
Traditional dentures are likely to make clicking noises when you eat or speak, as they lift up and move around. Implant-supported dentures are fixed in place at all times, and just like natural teeth, they do not make any noise.
Added security and confidence
Traditional dentures may slip out of place and move around. This can be embarrassing if it happens at the wrong moment. With implant-supported dentures, there is no need to worry about dentures falling out.
Superior Esthetics
Traditional dentures need wide plastic bases to help hold them onto the gums. Implant-supported dentures need less of a plastic base, as the anchors hold the dentures in place. As a result, implant-supported dentures look more natural than traditional dentures.
Improve Jawbone Support
The presence of implants in the jawbone stimulates the bone and protects the bone from shrinking, preserving the jaw shape. As a result, a more normal appearance of the face is preserved, instead of the sunk-in appearance of denture wearers.
Implant-Supported Hybrid Bridge
Implant-supported Hybrid Bridge is a fixed bridge that is screwed onto 4-6 implants placed in the jaw. You can have a hybrid bridge in the upper or lower jaw or both. Once placed in position with screws, this bridge cannot be removed by the patient. The dentist can, however, remove it for maintenance and cleaning.
Since the hybrid bridge is fixed, cleaning under the bridge, in the space between the gums and the bridge requires extra care. This bridge is usually made slightly above the gums, to make it easier to clean.
Implant-Supported Fixed Bridge
An implant-supported fixed bridge is very similar to a fixed bridge supported by natural teeth. Implants are placed, connectors are attached to the implants, and ceramic crowns and bridges are placed on the connectors. The number of implants placed will be determined after considering a lot of factors.
