Customized Full & Partial Dentures, Immediate Dentures, Overdentures, Denture Repairs , Denture Relines and Rebases

At Pearl Dental Arts, we make

  • Complete dentures or full dentures,
  • Partial Dentures, which can be (a) all acrylic, (b) metal and acrylic combination or (c) flexible (such as Valplast or Flexite), and
  • Immediate Dentures, where your new dentures are given immediately after the teeth are extracted, so you do not have to go without teeth for even a single day.

A denture or a complete denture as it is often called, is an appliance that is inserted in the mouth, replaces natural teeth and provides support for the cheeks and lips.

Most dentures are made of acrylic and can be fabricated two different ways:

  • A conventional denture is made after all teeth have been extracted and the tissues (gums) have healed.
  • An immediate denture is fabricated and inserted immediately after the teeth are extracted and the tissues are allowed to heal under the denture.
  • An upper denture has acrylic, usually flesh colored, that covers the palate (roof of the mouth).
  • A lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe to leave room for the tongue.

All our dentures are extremely custom-made, designed to look and fit right.

  • First, we start off with a very good, accurate mold or impression of the gums
  • Next, we take precise bite records, so that the teeth are placed at the right position for appearance, chewing and speech. You also get to pick the shade of the new teeth.
  • We pay a great deal of attention to making sure the dentures offer adequate support to the lips and cheeks and prevent the typical sunk-in look of denture-wearers.
  • At the next visit you get to try out a fitting or trial denture, so that you get to see how the new denture is going to look and feel in your mouth and how your bite will be. This fitting denture is still in wax, so we can modify it and reposition the teeth to your liking. Only when you are satisfied with this trial denture, we then get the denture made up in acrylic.
  • That’s the final denture that you receive, a highly customized beautiful work that looks good, is comfortable to wear and is very functional, both when chewing and talking.

We also place dental implants, and the complete denture can be attached to dental implants to allow for a more secure fit of the appliance. You will feel more secure in chewing and you can talk and smile with confidence.

The new replacement teeth made over dental implants can be either

  • the removable, snap-on type, called an overdenture, which can be easily taken out and snapped-back in by the patient whenever they want to,  and
  • the fixed bridge type, which cannot be removed by the patient as they are securely connected to the implants.

Dentures over a normal course of time will wear and need to be replaced or relined in order to keep the jaw alignment normal. The alignment will slowly change as the bone and gum ridges recede or shrink due to the extraction of the teeth. Regular dental examinations are still important for the denture wearer so that the oral tissues can be checked for disease or change.
